I am continuing on my progression of learning more about colours and layers for ginger cats. In preparation for doing Inga or Thor one of my ginger cats.

I really enjoyed learning from Becca Barron, how she builds up her colours on hot press Fabriano Artistico paper. I have to admit I’m not a great fan of hot press paper, it’s too hard on my hands as you have to use a lot of pressure once you’ve built up them layers. But it’s all a learning curve to discover the different techniques and what I prefer.

I look at the finished piece and I think I need to add more depth again but I will leave it where it is and look back in 12 months time at it and see how I’ve progressed.

I just love drawing eyes. I think I’ve not done a bad job on the fur either.

Till next time,
