After I finished the squirrel, I felt I needed a challenge. I really loved Bonny Snowdon’s latest tutorial for December 2022, the chocolate labrador dog.

It only measures 30cm high. Because it’s so small you can’t actually get the detail in the same so it’s more about getting the tonal values right to show the details.

When I first started it last week, I thought heck, I can’t do this. But I’ve stayed with it and so far I’m really chuffed that I’ve attempted it and oh my word I’ve learnt so much on this one.

I do think this one is a slightly smaller than the one Bonny did in her tutorial.

So here goes, step by step photos on my progress. I’m about half way on this one. I think I’ve spent about 6 hours so far on it, I must time myself.

You can see how small it actually is with a pencil and my finger as a guide.

I’m loving this one.
