I would say Brent’s fight with cancer possibly started around the start of January 2022 but we really don’t know and will never know now.

But I do remember that back in February 2022, he was having pain in his mouth with ulcers, but every time I said you really need to go to the doctors and get it checked out he would turn round and say I can’t I’m too busy with work, oh how I wish now that I had insisted he go but hindsight is a wonderful thing and there would never have been any guarantees that he would have survived now but there would have been a bigger chance.

He was eating ibruprofen and using mouthwash to try and calm his mouth and he struggled on till May 25th 2022 and finally plucked up the courage to go to the doctors. I didn’t go with him that day, that was the only day that I wasn’t with him through his journey.

The doctor that Brent saw that day, thankfully was a doctor who worked in the cancer sector. He’d said to him that day that whatever was in his mouth was SINISTER and looked like a tumour. So the doctor referred him for an URGENT 2 week cancer referral.

Brent never really took that information in when he was told, he thought it was nothing and for a good 2 weeks it still never really properly registered with him.
